How to Use College Factual: For Students
For best results, answer as many questions as you can up front so you can get matched to colleges right away! But if you don't have the time, or don't have the answers to some of the questions don't worry. Just skip them and come back to it later. You can always continue filling out your profile by clicking Match Profile at the top of the screen.
Once you have completed your profile, you can review your college matches. Go to your Decision Dashboard to see your matches at any time.
When you review your matches, you'll see a page like this:
Indicate if the school is a no, maybe or a yes and keep moving. It helps if you've decided ahead of time what is a deal-breaker for you. For example, this school would require me to take a plane to get there based on my location. If I've decided plane travel is a deal-breaker I could mark this school as a No. However, I see this school is also a great fit for me academically and has my ideal college major available. This may mean I decide it is a yes even thought it will require travel to get there.
After you push one of the buttons you'll be served up your next match and keep going.
To see your saved matches go to My Saved Schools (accessible via your dashboard).
You can also save schools as you're browsing our rankings or the rest of the website to come back to later.
When you click on a school that's been saved in your profile, you'll be taken to a page that shows how you match to the school.
Click the arrow on any of the bars to see more information about your match score.
Continue filling out your profile, reviewing your matches and reviewing your saved schools until you've narrowed down your list to schools you want to apply to. Use this as your list to begin submitting college applications. Then come back when you receive your college financial aid offers to compare offers using Cost Cutter.
